About Us

Umbrella Café is a social enterprise based in Norwich, Norfolk.

We provide lessons on how to: cook healthy meals on a limited budget; make the most of seasonal, home grown and foraged foods; smart shopping; avoiding food waste.

We work on the principle of using what you have, rather than shopping to a recipe (which can be very wasteful). All lessons begin with a root through the pantry (where we hold a small amount of stock, store-cupboard ingredients, such as flour, pulses, herbs and spices, rice etc.) and are based on the ingredients to hand plus cheap, seasonal fruit and vegetables.

Recipes are written as we cook! No recipes are followed, as we do not believe this is the most economical way of cooking.
